If you feel your skin is prematurely ageing, has suffered the effects of the sun, air pollution, stress, or fatigue, Fraxel® will effectively treat damaged skin without surgery. This treatment will reduce fine lines and wrinkles (such as crow’s feet and brow lines) improving the overall texture and tone giving your skin a more youthful appearance. It will also diminish the appearance of scars, acne scars, post-acne hyper-pigmentation, and pigmentation such as age spots or sunspots.
What is Fraxel®?
Fraxel® is the name given to a patented laser treatment which resurfaces damaged skin and encourages the production of collagen and new skin cells. This safe and effective laser resurfacing treatment uses energy from the laser to stimulate the growth of healthy new skin cells which replace old, damaged cells. Fraxel® lasers only treat a fraction of tissue at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched, which promotes rapid healing.
Encourage healthy cell renewal
This non-ablative treatment means it effectively works from the inside out. Unlike ablative laser treatments, the laser does not destroy the top layer of skin but penetrates beneath to encourage healthy cell renewal.
Is Fraxel® right for me?
The treatment can be tailored to your specific skin type to achieve the desired results. Fraxel® includes both superficial and deep laser treatment on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and arms. The laser has two treatment modes, one to target concerns such as deep wrinkles and acne scarring, the other to effectively target pigmentation, improve skin tone and tackle more superficial signs of ageing. What is Fraxel® good for?
Fraxel® is best suited to people who have lines and wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, scars, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation or pigmentation. Areas which can be treated include the face, neck, décolletage, hands and arms.
Will Fraxel® effectively treat my acne scars?
For textured acne scars such as ice pick, boxcar and rolling scars, laser treatment is a very effective, much more so than any topical treatment. Your practitioner will discuss with you which treatments are best to achieve your desired results.
How long does the treatment take?
Before your treatment you skin will be numbed, the treatment itself will then take around 20-30 minutes depending on the treatment area.
Does the treatment hurt?
Your skin can feel prickly during the treatment but is only mildly uncomfortable. Numbing cream will help to ease any discomfort.
How much does Fraxel® cost?
Depending on the area and how many treatments required, the costs will vary. To treatment half face, costs start from £635.
How many Fraxel® treatments are needed?
The specific number of treatments will be discussed in your initial consultation. Your doctor will tailor your treatment plan to your goals and desired results, as well as your lifestyle. Some clients see results after just one treatment whilst others see exceptional results after a course of five.
What is the downtime after a Fraxel® laser treatment?
Depending on the area treated, you can expect 3-5 days downtime. Immediately after your Fraxel® treatment, your skin will be red, similar to sunburn. This may last a few days and you may also experience some swelling. Your skin will peel, which of course is a sign that the treatment is working. If pigmentation is present on the skin, this may darken soon after treatment and last a few days until it flakes away revealing smoother, clearer skin.
Are Fraxel® results permanent?
Results will last for a long time (often several years), but they are not permanent. Your skin will continue to age, so you may need further treatments in the future.
