Frequently Asked Questions
How much do dermal fillers usually cost?
Dermal fillers are usually priced by the syringe, with a single 1ml treatment starting from £250 (depending on the area that is to be treated). Exact costs are confirmed after a free consultation with a doctor or nurse.
Are dermal fillers safe?
At sk:n every client seeking injectable treatments with dermal fillers is given an in-depth consultation that examines motivation and expectations. We have the highest level of regulation in the industry, exceeding all recommended guidelines and requirements. Our clinics are safe, medical environments and your treatment will be carried out only by a highly qualified doctor or nurse.
Do dermal fillers hurt?
Unlike procedures such as surgical face lifts or implants, dermal fillers require no cuts, incisions or stitches to be made, although the procedure may involve some light pain or discomfort. Depending on the area being treated, the treatment usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, and clients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied. For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anaesthetic to numb the area completely.
Do you offer permanent dermal fillers?
We do not offer permanent fillers, due to the unknown long-term risks involved.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Each treatment is delivered by a doctor or nurse prescriber to achieve the optimum, natural looking results. Results begin to show immediately after treatment and can last up to 12 months, depending on the product used and the area treated. Lip fillers tend to last for six months.
What Happens At My Dermal Fillers Consultation?
It’s important to us that you achieve the results you want, and we believe this starts with a thorough consultation. You will never be rushed and our highly trained practitioners will take the time to discuss aspects of your skin you may be unhappy with, your desired results, costs and timings. Our aim is for you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and looking forward to your treatment.
What if I don’t like the results?
During your consultation a great amount of time will be spent discussing your expectations and only trained medical practitioners administer dermal fillers at sk:n, so there shouldn’t be any surprise or shock results following treatment. However, if you are not happy with the results, your doctor or nurse can administer a solution that dissolves the filler almost instantly, leaving no lasting damage or effect.
What Is A ‘Vial’ And How Many Do I Need For My Treatment?
A vial is a measurement of the anti-wrinkle injectable liquid administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) requires 1-2 vials, marionette lines require 1 vial, lips require 1 – 2 vials and cheeks require 2 vials.
Where on my body can I have dermal fillers?
Popular areas to add volume and fullness to include the lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands.
Will I Look Dramatically Different?
No. Our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face for guidance. Your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your consultation your doctor or nurse will discuss the best plan for you to achieve subtle results.
What types of fillers do you offer?
At Sk;n we offer a wide range of fillers, including, Juvederm, rhinoplasty (non-surgical nose job) Dermal Fillers, Cheek Fillers, Lip Fillers and Tear Trough Fillers.
Can dermal fillers lift jowls?
Dermal fillers can be used to add structure and definition to the jowls. Administered correctly by a medical practitioner, they can subtly smooth, contour and tone the jowls, helping to define your features.
What dermal fillers are best?
At sk:n we only use the most trusted semi-permanent fillers on the market – Juvederm. This type of dermal filler is based on hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body, and has been purposely designed to make sure your face doesn’t appear frozen and that you will have a natural look whether you are frowning, laughing or smiling.
What happens after dermal fillers treatment?
At sk:n dermal fillers are only ever administered by a doctor or nurse prescriber, who will conduct a post-treatment review to ensure you are happy with the results. They will also check-in with you post-treatment and answer any questions that you may have.
Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising, with the swelling usually fading within 48 hours and the bruising fading within a fortnight.
What happens when dermal fillers wear off?
Over time the semi-permanent dermal fillers will be naturally metabolised by the body, and treatment will need to be repeated in order to achieve the same desired results.
What is in dermal fillers?
We use the highest grade filler solutions, which will be administered at varying levels of thickness depending on the area being treated, in order to achieve the best possible results. Our product Juvederm is made from biocompatible, biodegradable materials and contains hyaluronic acid, which replaces the naturally existing substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue and absorbs water to create a plumping effect.
Will I look dramatically different?
No, you will not look dramatically different after treatment. Our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face for guidance, and your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your free consultation your doctor or nurse will discuss the best plan for you to achieve the results you desire.
